Uttaranchal University is one of the prestigious Universities situated in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. It was first established as the Uttaranchal Institute of Technology. The UIT was later declared Uttaranchal University in 2013 after the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly passed the ‘Uttaranchal University Act, 2012’. Initially, it was also known as Law College Dehradun.

The University is approved by the University Grants Commission.
