Graphic Era Deemed to be University is Uttarakhand's leading higher education institution. It was formerly known as the Graphic Era Institute of Technology (GEIT), established in 1997 at Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The Graphic Era Institute of Technology was formed to deliver higher education in technology. 

In 2008, Graphic Era Institute of Technology was granted the status of a University and became Graphic Era Deemed to be a University. Since then, the University has been performing excellently in all academic fields.

The founder of Graphic Era Deemed to be University is Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Ghanshala. Graphic Era, Deemed to be a University, is recognized by the University Grants Commission, All India Council of Technical Education, and the Association of Indian Universities. NAAC accredits the University with an A+ certificate. 

Graphic Era University offers over 85 undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various specializations. The University accepts the scores of JEE, GATE, MAT, CAT, XAT, NET, CUET PG, and SLET for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Graphic Era University offers course admission based on entrance examination and merit of 12th score. Admission to the BTech program of GEU is provided based on JEE Mains and a 10+2 score. For admission to the MBA program, the candidate must appear for CAT, MAT, XAT, or CMAT. GEU offers Ph.D. in more than 15 specializations for which candidates must appear in GATE, NET, or SLET.

For admission to any UG-level course, the candidates must have completed their 10+2 education. There are other eligibility criteria for subjects and marks for admission to each program that the candidates must fulfill.
