College of Engineering Roorkee University is a prestigious state University in Roorkee, Uttarakhand. College of Engineering Roorkee University was earlier known as College of Engineering Roorkee, which was founded in 1998 by Seth Roshan Lal Jain Trust. Since then, the institution has been one of the leading hubs for higher education in Uttarakhand and neighboring states. 

COER was granted the status of University on 15th February 2021 by the State Government of Uttarakhand. Today, COER is known as the COER University. COER University is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC). It is affiliated to Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University.

College of Engineering Roorkee University collaborates with top higher education institutions, including IIT Roorkee, NITTTR Chandigarh, AIESEC in Delhi University, and Central Building Research Institute (CSIR-CBRI) Roorkee. 

The IIT Roorkee collaboration of COER University includes collaborative research and learning, visiting students, and visiting faculty. 

The international collaborations of COER University include Kuban State Agrarian University, the University of Kentucky, Debre Tabor University, International American University, and Southern Utah University.

Entrance Test

The candidates must appear for the entrance examination to secure the seat during COER University admission. Candidates can appear for the national or state-level entrance examinations per the program's requirements.

Admission to the BTech program is offered based on the JEE Mains score, while lateral entry admission to the BTech program is given based on the UKSEE score. For admission to the MTech program, the candidate must appear in GATE.

COER University BTech Admission 2024

The BTech program offered by COER University is a full-time, four-year course. The BTech course at COER University is offered in seven specializations. These specializations are as follows –

The admission to the BTech course at the College of Engineering Roorkee University is done on the basis of the JEE Mains rank of the candidate. The total number of seats available for BTech at COER University is 750.

To get admission into the BTech program at COER University, the candidate must have completed the 12th with Physics and Mathematics and one of the subjects – Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology. The candidate must have secured a minimum of 45% marks in 10+2 examinations.

COER University BTech lateral Entry Admission 2024

COER University offers the BTech lateral entry admission based on the UKSEE score. BTech through lateral entry is a three-year long program. After completing the three-year diploma program, the candidate gets direct admission to the second year of the BTech course.

For enrollment through lateral entry at COER University, the candidate must have completed the three-year diploma program in the relevant stream from any recognized institution.

COER University MTech Admission 2024

MTech is a postgraduate course offered by COER University in two specializations: Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science Engineering. There are a total of 36 (18 each) MTech seats available at COER University.

Admission to the MTech program at COER University is offered on the basis of the GATE score secured by the candidate.

The candidate must have completed the BE or BTech degree in a relevant specialization from any recognized University. The candidate must secure a minimum of 50% aggregate in the Bachelor’s degree.
